Can you help dogs with Kidney disease?
We’re sorry to hear that your dog has been diagnosed with kidney disease (or has troubles with their kidneys). We don't have a recipe suitable for kidney disease as renal disease is best managed with prescription diets. These specific diets contain very low levels of phosphorus and specialist proteins to reduce the workload on the kidneys. Prescription renal diets are also often lower in sodium and boosted with Vitamin E and other antioxidants to enhance renal function too.
If your dog is in the very early stages of kidney disease and your vet is happy for your dog to be on a normal diet rather than prescription at this stage, then have a chat with your vet to make sure they’re happy with their food.
However, we completely understand that under exceptional circumstances - for example if your dog is under end-of-life care - your vet may feel it's best for your dog to stay on their current food. As long as your dog is happy and enjoying their meals, there's no need to make any changes to their food.
