What is happening and why?
How is the wet food range changing?
- We’re simplifying the range by discontinuing 5 classic recipes (previously known as ‘Complete Care’).
- The remaining 10 classic recipes will have improved formulations, clearer names and refreshed packaging.
If your dog’s usual recipe is being discontinued, we’ll smoothly transition them to the closest suitable option, always taking their dietary needs and exclusions into account.
You can update your dog’s wet food selection anytime in the ‘meal plan’ page in your online account.
Why has the packaging changed?
We’re refreshing the look of our wet food packaging to better reflect the ingredients inside and make it easier to recognise and choose between recipes.
The packaging will remain just as recyclable, and will keep food nice and fresh for your dog.
Check the back of any Tails.com packaging for specific recycling instructions.
Classic wet food recipe updates
Why are you changing the classic wet food recipes?
We’re updating and refining our classic recipes to:
- Improve nutritional balance
- Provide clearer recipe names
- Refresh wet food packaging
Is the food still complete and balanced?
Yes. All our wet food recipes will remain complete and nutritionally balanced for adult and senior dogs.
These changes increase the nutritional value of our wet food even further, while keeping meals satisfying and suitable for everyday feeding.
Can puppies eat classic wet food recipes?
Our classic recipes are not formulated for puppies.
What exactly is changing?
What ingredients are changing?
We've removed the various sugars from our classic range and added a sprinkling of deliciously savoury yeast, enhancing the nutritional balance of the recipes while maintaining the flavour we know your dog loves.
Will the taste or texture change?
We’ve worked carefully to maintain taste and enjoyment, and most dogs will transition smoothly. If you notice your dog needs a little more time to adjust, we recommend introducing any new recipes gradually, by starting with a few spoonfuls in each meal and gradually increasing over a few days.
Why do some recipe names look different?
Some recipes will have new names and updated packaging to better reflect the ingredients inside, and align with our fresh new look. The nutrition will remain complete, balanced and satisfying for your dog.
Discontinued classic wet food recipes
Why are some recipes being discontinued?
We’re discontinuing 5 classic recipes (previously known as ‘Complete Care’) to make room for new, tastier and even more nutritious recipes. This helps us expand choice and continue improving the range as a whole.
The following classic recipes will be discontinued:
- Meaty Terrine with Chicken, Turkey and Peas
- Rustic Terrine with Lamb and Turkey
- Meaty Feast with Beef, Pasta & Peppers
- Harvest Terrine with Rabbit & Carrots
- Butcher’s Cuts with Beef & Tripe
What happens if I am subscribed to one of the discontinued recipes?
If you were subscribed to a ‘Complete Care’ recipe that is being discontinued, we’ll swap it for the closest available alternative classic recipe. We’ll choose a close flavour and texture match for a smooth transition, always keeping your dog’s dietary needs in mind.
If you were subscribed to a ‘Complete Care’ recipe that has just been updated, we’ll swap it for the updated classic recipe version, taking your dog’s dietary needs into account. Here’s a list of Complete Care recipes that are being updated:
| Current Complete Care recipe | Updated classic recipe |
| Farmer’s Pate | Garden Terrine |
| Fisherman’s Pate | Fisherman’s Pie |
| Hearty Casserole | Hearty Ragu |
| Shepherd's Hotpot | Shepherd's Pie |
| Country Stew | Cottage Pie |
| Fisherman's Stew | Seaside Stew |
| Cook's Casserole | Country Casserole |
| Farmhouse Feast | Meadow Supper |
| Country Lunch | Farmer’s Feast |
| Farmer's Lunch | Poultry Pot Pie |
During the transition, your dog’s meal plan will continue uninterrupted.
If you’d like to choose your own recipe swaps, you can do this on the ‘meal plan’ page in your online account anytime.
Why did I receive different packaging or a different recipe than usual?
During the transition period (7-17 April 2026), we’re phasing in our new and improved recipes, while using up our current stock to avoid any unnecessary waste.
During this time, you may receive:
- A mix of old and new packaging
- A slightly different recipe than originally listed in your dog’s meal plan
This short transition window helps us minimise food waste while keeping things simple.
We’ll swap any discontinued or updated recipes for the closest available alternative in flavour and texture for a smooth transition, always taking your dog’s dietary needs into account.
Price
Are prices changing as part of the wet food update?
No – there’s no change to the price of your wet food. The price of your monthly box will remain the same.
Dietary exclusions
My dog has dietary exclusions – can they still eat Tails.com wet food?
Yes. Our updated wet food recipes are designed with ingredient clarity in mind, making it easier to choose options that suit your dog’s needs.
If you’ve told us your dog has an intolerance or exclusion, any unsuitable recipes in our online shop will be clearly marked as not recommended. Any recipe swaps we make will always take your dog’s dietary needs into account.
You can check full ingredient lists on each recipe, and your dog’s plan will always take their dietary preferences into account.
If you’re ever unsure, our team is here to help.
Please note: All our wet food recipes are created in the same facility, which means trace amounts of other ingredients can be present. For dogs with severe allergies, we always recommend working with your vet to find the safest diet.
