I've spotted a tick on my dog after using the treatment – is it working?
Yes, please rest assured your treatment is doing its job! It can be a little surprising to see a tick on your pet after they've been treated, but this is actually a normal part of how the medication works.
How tick protection works
Unlike flea treatments which can kill on contact, tick treatments work dynamically when a tick attaches: the tick needs to attach to your pet for the treatment to take effect.
Once they attach, the active ingredients go to work quickly, typically neutralizing the tick within 24 to 48 hours.
The medication acts fast enough to protect your pet and keep them safe from tick-borne illnesses.
Why is the tick still there?
Ticks can sometimes remain attached to the skin for a day or two even after they have died. They may look like they are still alive when they are actually completely harmless.
